I watched thi film a few days back, after recording it off SBS VICELAND. Very much a "First Person Shooter" in the classic sense, complete with a back story where the title character doesn't have their memory - ooh, where have I heard that before) Also the most extreme, bloodthirsty and violent film I've ever watched. Impossible to keep a death count!

I used to have a copy of this game. The goal was to LOSE as much money as possible in the shortest amount of time. The first broke was the winner. If I remember rightly, you could buy shares in the "Really Big Steel Company" and hopefully LOSE a bundle! :P

Players moving pieces along a track to be first to reach a goal was the archetypal board game format of the 18th and 19th century. Alex Andriesse looks at one popular incarnation in which these pieces progress chronologically through history itself, usually with some not-so-subtle ideological, moral, or national ideal as the object of the game.

Take-Two, meanwhile, argue that use of the word is justified on the grounds of historical accuracy, since in the actual west the Pinkertons were doing exactly what they’re shown as doing in the game. They’ve now filed a suit of their own, seeking to have the game’s Pinkerton agents declared as fair use.

Always check the copy and other rights first.

I've been "out of bounds" in a few games and several virtual online worlds that no longer exit.

The original Trackmania would allow one to drive anywhere once you fell out of the track. Most folk wouldn't do that, since it wasn't going to get you the next track, and there was lots of wilderness out there.

Many of the old style virtual worlds were compromises in that they weren't continuous 3D spaces, but "3D rooms" (sometimes very large) with trans lights for scenery in the distance or out the window. Vivaty was like that, as was IMVU and the old Kaneva. Twinity still is. In any case you could often just "drop off" that space if the 3D room was sloppily constructed, and you could also - once you found out how - alter to POV and see the scene from the other side!

Greg founded The Chaosium in 1975, and from the outset (to quote his own words) “was never content to imitate, but instead published games that were original in their style of play, content and design”. Under his leadership, the company quickly became renowned for its originality and creativity, and was responsible for introducing numerous things to the hobby that are standards today. As John Wick (7th Sea, Legend of the Five Rings) memorably said, “The older I get, the more I hear young RPG designers say ‘Never been done before!’ And then I just point at something Greg Stafford did a few decades ago.”

Greg’s work in roleplaying games, board games, and fiction have been acclaimed as some of the most engaging and innovative of all time. There will doubtless be many valedictory messages over the coming days from the countless people that Greg inspired and enthused across his many interests and passions - Glorantha, Oaxaca, King Arthur, shamanism, mythology and more.

A pioneer in Role Playing and other games.

And lastly, I still have my copy of The Creature That Ate Sheboygan from 1979.

And lastly, I still have my copy of The Creature That Ate Sheboygan from 1979. As per Board Games Geek... A fabulous game where one gets to "wreak havoc with the monster of your choice". You design a monster (Godzilla, Mothra, The Really Big Slug, etc.) and then try to destroy as much of Sheboygan as possible; the opponent scrambles civilians out of the way, then sends in the police and eventually the Army. Great fun! You can see a copy of the rules at https://www.spigames.net/PDFv2/CreatureThatAteSheboygan.pdf.

And yes, this too spawn computer versions or imitations. I used to play CRUSH CRUMBLE, CHOMP way back when as well.

Conquistador was another "fun game" from SPI, published in 1975.

Conquistador was another "fun game" from SPI, published in 1975. You played one of the European powers seeking to exploit the Americas either by seeking gold, landing settlers or fighting each other. Populations would often die off to illness depending on where you colonised. You can check out the PDF for this as well, at https://www.spigames.net/PDFv2/Conquistador.pdf.

I don't think I could play this game any more, because it's just realistic enough to show just how brutal imperialism is, and why glamorise that?

I used to own a copy of this.

I used to own a copy of this. It was a four player game where the North American player defended against the European Socialist Coalition, the South American Union, and the Pan Asiatic League. You still get a PDF of the rules , counters and map (at https://www.spigames.net/PDFv2/InvasionAmerica.pdf)! It was a fun game to play back in the late 70s, but looking back I ca see a certain degree of paranoia in this.
