Marble and Laurel appeared (along with Elsie) in my first comic about Second Life, which was also a 24 hour comic. In the first storie Elsie barely appears as she swaps places with Laura_S, (a version of myself) and promptly gets transported to "1st Life". I plan to use the 3rd Rock version of Marble again, someday.

The Tiliaceae were the original threat I added to teh comic to create a bit of tension. They all have "colourful" names because changing the colour was an easy way to distinguish a character. There were two others, but they were transformed into a butterfly race and went to another alterverse.

Tiliaceae is a play on words. According to the Wikipedia, However, in the northern temperate regions the name is unambiguous as the only representative is Tilia, the lime or linden.

The Buggle Bros are of course based on the original band members of The Buggles, just at T. D'Olby is based on Thomas Dolby. Originally D'Olby appeared as an easy rescue for the characters, but I had to give him a backstory and place for m\him to take them. I created the characters Jeff and Trevor as partly based on Ben and Jerry Horne from Twin Peaks, two entrepreneurial siblings who are a bit flaky in their own way. Neither Jeff or Mr Berkley (pronounced Bark-lee) appeared in the first story as such, but the reason for their absence was to have an impact in the next story.

Berkley is a modded free Bothan AV. I might contact the creator and see if I can port him over to my grid. I wanted Curtis to project a professional but detached character, and too great pains to get his appearance right. Neeta on the other hand is a version of an open source character (q.v.) who I thought would be perfect for the comic.

Doctor Optimum was originally an exposition character, but I liked using her in the story so she returned as a professor of Praxis University. Ms Harimori was originally played by a friend's AV who then dropped out of Second Life, so I had to reconstruct the character as best I could, and find an excuse for why she'd changed.

I wanted to use Jenny Everywhere in my comic, so I gave her a backstory.

I wanted to use Jenny Everywhere in my comic, so I gave her a backstory. The minute I did that it was like her story wrote itself, creating characters and situations to fit. I made her into Jennifer Quackum, and "Jenny Everywhere" was a familiar name her father Egbert had given her. Her father was a bit of a mad scientist, and her mother Elizabeth was the practical one.

The character of Jenny Everywhere is available for use by anyone, with only one condition: This paragraph must be included in any publication involving Jenny Everywhere, that others might use this property as they wish. All rights reversed.

It occurred to me that I needed to start working on my characters, not just the sets for Seconds.

It occurred to me that I needed to start working on my characters, not just the sets for Seconds. Almost all of those were modded ALTS in Second Life. I used five alts, Elsie Broek being my first. In creating characters I used what I could find for free or afford, and sometimes made. Some were free avatars either straight out of the box or modded slightly. But in my own rid I'd need to make everything.

So I really need snapshots of each to do that properly. From the time I started making Seconds until I finished the first story, avatars changed a lot in SL and OS. I might have a learning curve ahead

Poor Polidari - doomed to always be in Byron's shadow.

Happy birthday to John Polidori, born today in London in 1795. As well as being the long-suffering personal physician to Lord Byron, he is also the creator – from that same famed night of ghost-stories in a Lake Geneva villa in 1816 which gave us Shelley's Frankenstein — the first modern vampire story. Andrew McConnell Stott explores how a fractious relationship between Polidori and his poet employer lies behind the tale, with Byron himself providing a model for the blood-sucking aristocratic figure of the legend we are familiar with today: https://buff.ly/2vOv5zF

Gosh, HOMICIDE.

Gosh, HOMICIDE. Used to watch a lot of that in the day. It was one of the first shows I watched where main characters would leave the show because they got killed, put in jail, or had nervous breakdowns! And everyone wore hats!

And, it had 509 episodes: https://www.classicaustraliantv.com/homicide.htm

I grew up in the 60s and 70s with one of these in my parents house, a Philips radiogram. In the 70s I'd be typing out a fanzine with headphones plugged into it, listening to Hawkwind or Yes, et al. If I remember correctly, my parents used it until a rat got in to it, and killed itself gnawing through a wire. Can't remember what replaced it.

Did some more building this afternoon.

Did some more building this afternoon. I already had exactly the idea of what I wanted with this base, so the textures were all ready to add. This is just the exterior though. Nothing inside, yet.

I successfully transferred the grid to 9.0.0.

I successfully transferred the grid to 9.0.0. this morning. Decided to make a start on the Moreau Base. My original version used lots of shortcuts using holes and deformations, but each shortcut I used made it harder to modify. The only holes used in this version are the lift and stair wells. The coloured sections are just place marker boxes for the levels (which all measure 37x37 m for no good reason). I'm also avoiding sculties in this version.
