Nostalgia neurons are firing fast this afternoon! I first heard Space Ritual when I visited my uncle Steve in the early 70s. He was living in an outer houseat my grandparents place, had a door cutain made from beer can tabs, smoked "herbal" cigs, and had this on in the background. I was reading a lot of Michael Moorcock at the time and later discovered he did some vocals on the album!

This song has a deep resonance for me. I should do a Hawkwind fan vids myself sometime. :D

The thing about the Internet and social networks is that they have the promise of giving pleasure, relief, confidence, and connection. The trouble is, that as a whole a social network's like a slot machine - it gives out only a small percentage of what's put into it, and what you do get back is just enough to keep you going. For most folks that's enough, but if you're lacking in these in real life, their unreliability from social networks can be crushing if that's what you're relying on.

Been there a number of times, and I find I have to be very careful about the time I spend on things like G+ and FB. If I'm not, important things slip and then I feel MUCH worse afterwards. This is why gave my FB password to my next door neighbor for over a week (so I couldn't use it), and posted (when I did) on G+ via Google Calendar. It distanced me from a vortex that might have fucked up my finishing the research paper.

It worked.
