I just read the graphic novel version of this, which was in the local library system. I can recall reading this in the local papers (Sunday Times?) back in the 70s, though I never saw a complete run at the time. A very detailed and historically accurate account of Ned Kelley, especially the battle at Glenrowan and its aftermath. I am VERY tempted to buy a copy of this. Wedd was consummate draftsman and the artwork drips with details of all kinds.

The other important thing I do is read THE VISUAL LANGUAGE OF COMICS by Neil Cohn (reviewed by The Guardian in the link) which ironically I bought last year from Amazon (see http://www.amazon.com/The-Visual-Language-Comics-Introduction/dp/1441181458) but never got to read because of pressure to finish the artwork and exegesis. The title's misleading, because the author asserts that "drawings and sequential images are structured the same as language" rather than have their own language.

None the less, this was a major suggestion by the reviewers and I'm keen to read it. Lots of sitting in the sun with the pets and taking notes is expected.
