TO: Taxi only, no landing. Just before a THRESHOLD.
TD: Touchdown
AP: Aiming Point The idea is that you touch down on the previous mark, but are on the ground by this one.
150m Marks 150 metres from the threshold. There'd be more of these but the runway is relatively "short". However, if I removed a 25m segment between the two marks, they'd be 150m apart.

The centre line dashes should by rights be 120' (36.5m) long with an 80' (24.3m) gap between them . However in Opensim that's not practicle. Rather, I've maintained a 3:5 ratio between dash and space. That can be scaled down and give the illusion of an accurate look.

The idea is that the pilot(s) try and touch down on the TO, are fully down by the AP, and hopefully fully landed before they get to the Threshold at the other end of the runway.

What's still missing ts runway ID numbers, which should just be after a threshold. The yellow borderline runs from right/south to left/north (or 0°, and the runway is at a 10° angle. The number at the right would be 01, and to the left would be 19. They'll be added next. These marking are based on a guide at https://www.united-virtual.com/classes/class_ils.html

So I bought one of these at ALDI today. It was marked down substantively from the prices given on this review page. I've been wanting a better camera for a while. I my first digital camera was a CANON Powershot A20 and though most phones today do better better images than that one, it was OK for 1998. I liked the 25x Optical Zoom on this. See that galah in the tree next door, shoot it (with a camera)!!!

No doubt I've made a "terrible mistake", but my intuition says not.

I've almost finished rereading THE UNWRITTEN.

This is a great Vertigo comic series, which I originally read a few years back. But that was one volume at a time, when I could get them. This time around I borrowed volume 1 for a friend visiting from Victoria. She never got to read it, but I did. Then I found volumes 2-7 up at Charlestown library, and started reading a volume every 1 or 2 days. Finally I requested volume 8-11 and am on 11 just now.

Rereading this a second time and within the space of 4-5 weeks has brought lots of clarity to the plot, and been a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Without giving things away it's about stories and how they affect folk. Ripper!

Well this sucks.

Well this sucks. After my grappics card died in the Recroom PC I can no longer use a viewer on it (they all crash) and there's no sound either. This might slow done my doing much on the Grid. I can still access it on the Media and Studio PCs, but the RecRoom is the most comfortable room in the house, and where I can focus better. Might need a new graphics card but need to see what will run on an ASRock N68-S3 UCC.

I spent most of the day rebuilding the grid. Something when wrong when I tried to split a group in two. For some reason there were conflicts and deleted rgions just WOULD NOT DIE. So it was easier to make the next iteration of the grid using backups of the regions and avatar inventories.

I have to agree on this. I think the author was aiming at "whimsical" but sadly hit overwritten and overloaded with superfluous characters. Who's the main character? Certainly NOT the title one.

I have 50 pages left to read and I'm debating if I should, or return the library copy of this I have on loan. Of course I might be doing an injustice here. This might be part of a series, but I hope not.

So, earlier today the NUC with the grid reset itself. I discovered that this was due to a Windows Upgrade setting (which I've now corrected). However, I was working in the grid when that happened and lost all the walls in this deck, plus anything that was linked to them (like some of the flooring)!

Couldn't find this in either the trash, or Lost and Found, so I've just spent some time rebuilding the walls and doors. Not finished this yet, but one thing that will come out of this is that all the heights will match! GAH.

In actual fact it carried on the trend of the time of taking well known fantasy and science fiction artists and then subtly manipulating them to follow the storyline. In several images you can see where they have been edited in to the exiting artwork. The idea is fun with a mixed level of success.

When I was pruning my book collection I came across my copy of this, which I probably haven't read for at least 15 years.. Have been reading it a bit at a time outside in the shade. Good fun!

The provisional plan for DECK P. The general workers use dorms and the workers bathroom. The permanent staff and guests use the exec lounge and bathroom. There will be a couple of doors added to prevent strays.

Permanent staff include Curtis the Pilot, Mr Berkley, and Neeta the Mechanic (though she tends to sleep in the garage). The manager is one of the two Buggle brothers, but is usually Trevor who also uses the genetics lab to research agriculture and exotic plants. This fits together much better than the original design because there's more m² on this plan. Each dorm has 8 beds + matching lockers but its unlikely for there to be more than 10 workers at any one time.

The standard wall or floor is .33m thick, but where two sections meet I need to duplicate those at a half thickness of .0.165m thick. I was like visiting your old family house and discovering all your toys and comics were still there. Now I've never read any of the Poppins books - there were 8 - but the film is very much a pastiche of the original, like OZ THE GREAT AND POWERFUL is a pastiche of MGM's THE WIZARD OF OZ. Instead of chimney sweeps we have lamp lighters (Jack instead of Bert), we have live action next to animation, and people dance with penguins. What more you want? Well trust me, it's there! I did enjoy the couple of cameos at the end.Lived the song and dance numbers.

Later, when I was browsing books in Target, I found a large hardback edition of the MARY POPPINS. It seemed a bit expensive at $28 (even with 1950s style illustrations) but I noticed listed in the back a couple of sequels: MAY POPPINS COMES BACK and MARY POPPINS OPENS A DOOR. That second title is relevant to the film, so perhaps they've combined a couple of books to make the film.

I think one of the things I've always liked about it is how Uncle Martin helps others, even when he's in an awkward situation. This episode is a case in point, and it promotes a simpler less complicated appreciation of life.

I had a burst of energetic building this morning with the Alpha Base.

I had a burst of energetic building this morning with the Alpha Base. It helped that my PC didn't turn itself off automatically in the middle of it.

From this angle you can see the revised solar panel arrays and the new fire escapes. There are all exerternal for obvious reasons, and also get used by stuff for the odd recreational moment. The kitchen windows are restored. and the runway is now a thru-way thing, extending slightly off the main base.

Two jump-bug tugs are parked near the solar array when not in use. I used to have a crane rig at one end, but it made more sense to use the tugs, and a more usable runway for craft that need one.

COMPARISON:
The revised version (at left) has lifts OUTSIDE the main framework, whereas the previous version (at right) had them inside. I've swapped over the positions of the solar cell arrays with the helipads which makes better sense given the position of the control tower.

FRONT VIEW:
The extended level at top of this end is the living area. I suppose I ought to place some supports underneath, like under the Helipad at rear.

I watched the DOCTOR WHO NEW YEARS SPECIAL this morning.

I watched the DOCTOR WHO NEW YEARS SPECIAL this morning. It was OK. I can see how they're "writing out" certain story props and characters for a while. Too easy to get help.

But, I did like the emphasis on family and friends.
