More fiddling with bus stops. The white one is a modded Linda Kellie stop. The one next to it I found somewhere I can't remember. I redid the type 1 stop so that it now has advertising and a protective mesh at the back. I also removed the bases. Now the roofs are the root prims for all. Also two styles of sign - a LK based one, and modd of that which is less "posh".

I build a 8 prim bus stop based on a local one near Wallsend Library.

You can easily cut this down to 6 prims if you remove the base and the backing grill (which isn't in the original). The image of the real bus stop is swiped from Streetview which is now a bit dated. The current version has that bench high striped bar, which is in the prim version. I haven't included a bench, because those are better to be a separate build for seating purposes.

The trouble with an immortal character who doesn't regenerate like Time Lords, is that the actor ages anyway, and then you have the choice of either replacing them with another actor who looks a lot like them, jumping through plot twists to explain the aging, or cease using that character. That's why it's very doubtful that we'll see River Song again, and probably not see Me & Clara either. They can easily be in audio stories and comics, and novels, not so easily on the big or small screen.

So I've really been enjoying reading THE SUBTLE KNIFE.

So I've really been enjoying reading THE SUBTLE KNIFE. Not just the the story itself, but reading fiction from a physical book.

There was a time when I stopped doing that. I think I started again, after at least 10 years on not reading fiction, with CHANUR'S LEGACY which was a 4th book of a trilogy. After that I read 2.25 of the final Thomas Covenant series (stopped at page 59 of "Against All Things Ending"). Both of these were follow-ups to stuff I'd already read. Then, after watching THE HUNGER GAMES I decided to read the book and and it's sequels, and I did the same thing for DIVERGENT (which is why I think the 3rd film was so bad). Since then I've read A WRINKLE IN TIME and it's first sequel (the next two are harder to find), and now I'm on the second book of "His Dark Materials" trilogy. Oh, and along the way some books by Adrian Bedford and Stephen Dedman, whom I know from Perth fandom.

I'm talking about a period of 20 years here. At some point I I'd just stopped reading fiction books, and I'm not entirely sure why. I've read a lot of comics in that time, but comics are not the same as straight text. Fiction books exercise my grey matters in a different manner.

Either way it's nice to read them again.

So I decided to watch the library DVD of The Golden Compass, after reading the book it was based on - Northern Lights. I'd watched the film when it was first released, but couldn't make a lot of sense from it. Seeing it one day after, it was so obviously a ghastly précis of the book. Most of the action scenes are there but the plot's been rearranged, characters are deleted or replaced, and words said by characters who didn't say them in the book. The worst things are that Lyra's accent is just WRONG, the exposition is never in context (and people seem to know things they shouldn't if we only go by the scenes we see), and they don't even finish the story! It's like they've cut the daemon out of the film in the production of it. This gets 3/10 "Hunger Games points" (my gold standard for film adaptations)!

On the flip side, I've read today that the BBC are proceeding with season 2 of HIS DARK MATERIALS. I hadn't even realised that they'd done a season 1. So, there may may just be a far better adaptation out there of this book.

The Timeless Door Script is bloody picky about redoing positions! I used that instead of several sliding door scripts I found because those either created a prim that would constantly move out of the sim, or move wthe whole factory instead!

There's a new work shed next to this now, for workers smokos and lunch breaks. All main of corrugated iron for worker's comfort! I might add a couple of outhouses behind it.

I have mixed feelings about this film. I decided NOT to watch last year's film GOODBYE CHRISTOPER ROBIN, which seemed to be about the dangers of unwanted celebrity, because the film itself is a sort of capitalisation of that. Likewise, this further fictionalises Christopher Robin Milne - who died in 1996 - and adds him with a Disneyised version of the characters from the Pooh books.

I've never seen the Disney animation of the books, but I know that that version has replaced the originals as the definitive Pooh for may people. Don't want to encourage that.

Apart from the fact that there wouldn't be any thing called a boot leg turn until the 20th century, it just wouldn't work. Those ropes would snap before the ship changed its course. After the Masters I lost my graphic novel. I got it back eventually, but in that gap between losing and recovery I lost heart for doing a lot of things. I stopped drawing with only a few exceptions. Today I feel overwhelmed by, by everything. Humour and creativity are the two things that keep me going. But what's the point of doing creative things if those creative things get deleted or corrupted or lost in the process of their creation before I can even share them, even after you rebuild and rebuild and rebuild and those get lost as well?

And it doesn't matter if that's because of my own mistakes or clumsiness or misunderstanding, or some uncontrollable external factor. I have an anxiety disorder that magnifies that loss and sends me into a panic. Every time this happens, it drags me into an emotional black hole, and eventually I may not be able to crawl out.

Now that Seconds was back up. I've built a large Quonset/Nissen style building on South Buggle Island. This is is where the Flax & Hemp was processed. Made from prims and deliberately over-engineered to reflect when it was built (80 years ago).

Not aged yet. I think it also needs windows at each end.
