I'm noticing that RAGE playlist this morning looks like it may be inspired by tonight's Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras march. Shan't be going tonight, either as a marcher or as audience. Too much trouble and strife for little return. It's a great event if you live in Sydney, and/or are cis Gay/Lesbian.

But as someone who marched in 13 of these things, I'm OVER IT. Partly some of this has to do with music - I find most of the "bouncy ballads" dull and monotonous compared to the Goth stuff I used to hear at the nightclubs. Most of it's "music to flirt/fuck by". There's nothing wrong with that, but mostly for me it's dull as ditch-water (which is why I stopped going to Queer nightclubs, I was bored shitless).

None of which will stop me from watching some of the march on the SBS broadcast Sunday night. But of course that DOESN'T involve a long trip down to Sydney, a long wait either way for the march to start, potential panic attacks (BIG crowds bring that out in me if I'm not with friends), a long trip home on crowded trains full of grumpy/tired/people or arseholes who reveal what they really think of the parade, and either a long wait for a bus that comes hours later, discovery of one's car broken into, or an expensive taxi ride home.

Otherwise, I wish anyone going to this in any capacity to have a good time.
