Then I thought "why not have a spiral access shaft for pedestrians?" and did a search on the net to see if that was feasible.  Sure enough, someone had already thought of this - Herman Potočnik (writing as Hermann Noordung) in his 1929 book The Problem of Space Travel (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Herman_Poto%C4%8Dnik#The_Problem_of_Space_Travel, you can even get an English translation from NASA).

The tube prims used for the main corridor and sections divide the circle into 24 parts or 15° arcs.  The section shown marked 1-2-3 is therefore covering a 45° arc. The floors meet at 165° angles, which is still obvious but gentle enough that hopefully people don't stumble on it. Rooms would either have walls running along that join, or within a flat section. Having a room with a seam in the middle might be awkward otherwise

Well I am more than a little disappointed with Medieval Engineers and Space Engineers.

Well I am more than a little disappointed with Medieval Engineers and Space Engineers. It's not that the games are bad, but that I can't run Medieval Engineers at all (yet) and the "lag" on Space Engineers is worse than the first time I tried to play Second Life on an underpowered PC.

I think perhaps I might need a dedicated graphics card to play either. I'm still running the onboard NVIDIA GeForce 7025 / nForce 630a (C61) [ASRock] video chip. All my PCs are a couple of years old, and while it's fine for Second Life / Open Sim, not so much for either of these.

Any gaming PC I know of doesn't use the built in graphics processor unless the gamer built it themselves.  I thought the issue might have been that I was using DirectX 9. I upgraded to 11 which improved Space Engineers slightly, but it's like trying to drive a rover on mars in real time.

However, what I really need to do is read the forums and support pages for issues like this, before anything.  So, postponed obsessive gaming, for now.

I've been looking at videos and pages about SPACE ENGINEERS today, before i buy a copy (and I might bu Medieval Engineers with it). I was hoping to export models made in it for use in Future Imperfect. According to http://www.spaceengineersgame.com/3d-models.html you can do exactly that (exported in .obj) and I can see myself repainting them using SUBSTANCE PAINTER.

The other thing I was interested in was whether or not you could have a working centrifugal living space in it. This video suggests yes, but be prepared to get "space sick"!

I enjoy watching GRAND DESIGNS, all full of people with more money than sense. Most of the time they mange to get the design built, even with hideous overruns. The episode that was just repeated on the ABC (from 2007) they didn't. The idea was to convert an old barge into a luxury house boat, only they had no plan to give the casual labourers and costs just soared when they had to tow the thing to different moorings. Finally the owners were EVICTED from their own home (for not paying moorage rates I think).

I always wondered what happened to he half built result. It seems that four years later it broke loose and washed up on the beach. No doubt it was carted away for scrap afterwards.
