I like both series, but prefer Elementary. It's more realistic and Holmes isn't built up to be a "high functioning sociopath". Rather, he's a damaged individual who, through his work, keeps himself sane. And Joan Watson is definitely my fave Watson - she's no slouch as a detective herself - Holmes is better for having her as a partner.

Tons of caveats in all of this, and the headline below is pretty clickbaity, but ... Fox Broadcasting President of Entertainment, David Madden, says he'd actually be open to more Firefly ... but only if Joss Whedon was doing it (which I sort of have to agree with).

There's nothing specifically in the way, aside from folks' schedules and the actual creative integrity of telling a story worth telling (esp. in the context of 12 years having passed).
