I've been watching  The Time Tunnel  and am just about to watch the final episode.  It's been an interesting mix  of stories. Initially there was only one adventure in the future (ep 2), and the rest were all in the past. Then things start to change with episode 18  

Silver aliens turn up bent on conquest but it transpires they can't even take over a town in the old west. The following episode features a ghost of a Roman Emperor, and then we have a biblical story where everybody (staff of the Time Tunnel as well) are extra reverent.Things go back to the past again until there's a slew of episodes that feature silver skinned and dressed aliens / people from the future - it seems silver clothing and skin paint is all the rage through the ages. In the penultimate episode they story mixes the siege of Khartoum with another alien invasion. Not quick as fantastical as the Merlin the Magician episode, but I suspect the final with have more silver people in it.

Some of the better stories are written by husband and wife team Bob and Wanda Duncan, who seemed to write for period  TV series and were regular writers on other Irwin Allen series. Some actors, like John Crawford, turns up in a number of episodes - "Genetic convergence" perhaps?

It's clear that  Dr. Ann MacGregor has a soft spot for  Dr. Raymond Swain and vice versa. And  Lt. Gen. Heywood Kirk always seems reluctant to exercise his authority, except for last minute ideas (like sending fuses to the Chinese so they can kill Mongols with grenades.)  Jerry the technician only appears in 5 episodes, which is a pity. Not quite "Seaman Kowalski," quality but it would have been cool to see more of him, and other semi-regular staff.

An issue that becomes apparent when seeing the whole series, is that Doug and Tony never seem to get a minute to themselves. They rarely seem to get much sleep and we only see a night shift at the Tunnel only once. But, it's still fun. Echoes from my childhood.
