The Tiliaceae were the original threat I added to teh comic to create a bit of tension. They all have "colourful" names because changing the colour was an easy way to distinguish a character. There were two others, but they were transformed into a butterfly race and went to another alterverse.
Tiliaceae is a play on words. According to the Wikipedia, However, in the northern temperate regions the name is unambiguous as the only representative is Tilia, the lime or linden.
