I haven't done a lot of building in the Seconds grid in the last two months. Apart from not being well, everything seemed "ornery" in the grid. I'd build stuff to discover that it didn't always take. At other times everything was s-o- s-l-o-w. But I found the reason behind the second!
I run the grid under Win10 via a console app called ConEmu. I had installed ConEmu on the C: drive of the NUC (an SSD drive) but the data files for the grid were on D: (not an SSD drive). I moved it over to C: today and everything is a LOT quicker, especially terrain editing. In the past I'd been accessing the grid via another PC on the HomeGroup rather than the NUC. I can still do that and at least 1/2 of it will be a lot quicker now, but I might do more on the Black Box in future.
I will probably get back to building this week. But also I need to start rebuilding my characters. I've looked at what I did in SL and the Hypergrid, and should be able to replicate it on Seconds. Either way I need to spend time doing that.
The image below shows parts of the 3x3 region Scum Island build. Up top is Scum Central, and in the foreground the pier-side attractions that draw the tourists in. Almost everything here is based on either Linda Kellie or Arcadia Asylum freebies. The yellow dotted line shows where the railway will run - from the boardwalk up to under Scum Central and then out, alongside the Prim Quarry to go over a bridge to the mainland. Lots to do, and most of it doesn't have to be built at once, but when I need it. So long as I'm CONSISTENT this should be fine.
